Tips and Tricks

Galaxy Note 10.1

1

Applications

Group Play
Group Play lets you share a presentation or photos with nearby Group Play users on the same WiFi® network. Write on a presentation in real time or advance to the next photo—and everyone can see what you're doing on their own compatible devices.

2

Expandable Memory

microSD
The Galaxy Note 10.1 has a microSD™ slot to accommodate extra storage of videos, photos, music or other media. The maximum size supported is 64GB.

Gestures

Smart Stay
Smart Stay can tell if you're looking at the display and keeps the backlight on until you look away. To enable the Smart Stay feature, touch Settings > Display. Place a checkmark in the box next to Smart stay.

Multi Window Features

Pinning
Enjoy additional multitasking with the Multi Window Pin feature. It allows you to pin an app to your screen that will stay on top of other open apps or windows. Simply open an app in your Multi Window Tray and switch to dual screen mode. Then select the pushpin icon in the top-left corner of the app's window, which will turn green to indicate you've pinned the app window. Move the pinned app and open additional apps and select Dual View
to enjoy enhanced multitasking. You can also use Cascade view to further enhance your multitasking experience.

Dual Screen View
Take multitasking to the next level by having two applications open next to one another on the same screen. For example, you can capture images from the internet browser and drag it to the S Note you're creating in the next window, or watch a video while writing about it in a Word document.

Multi Window Tray
To keep apps handy, the Galaxy Note 10.1 features a Multi Window tray. Launch it by touching the ^ icon, which is always accessible at the bottom of
the screen. The tray will pop up, and you can swipe left and right until you find your desired app.

To customize the tray by adding or deleting apps, touch Edit when the tray is launched. You can then drag apps into or out of the tray as desired. When you open the Multi Window Tray, you can also see the Dual View and Cascade View options.

Popup Features

Popup Video
When scrolling through your Facebook® or Twitter® feeds, sometimes you'll want to watch a video someone has posted. Popup Video is perfect for these times, because with it you don't have to exit your current app to watch the video. You can continue to browse your feeds while the video plays in a separate window.

Popup Browser
Open a browser window without
ever leaving an application. The
Popup Browser allows you to select
a web link in an email or message,
and a browser window opens on top
of your screen. Move the window
anywhere on the screen so you can
keep working within your original app,
or expand it to full screen.

S Pen

Using Air View in a Browser
To enjoy the robust features of Air View, you will need to use Samsung's internet browser. The Google Chrome browser application is also available on the
Galaxy Note 10.1, although it does not support Air View*.

Contextual Shortcuts Toolbar
Contextual awareness means quick access: When S Pen™ is removed from its integrated slot, a menu of S Pen–related apps will automatically pop up for selection on the right side of the display.

You may select to have a particular S Pen application open when the S Pen is removed from its slot, instead of the Shortcuts Toolbar. Available apps range from productivity to graphic and include the preloaded S Note. To change this setting, go to Quick Panel > Settings > S Pen > Options after detaching pen.

Contextual Shortcuts
Toolbar: S Pen Icon
Perhaps you selected an app from the Contextual Shortcuts Toolbar after removing S Pen from its integrated slot, but now you'd like to move to a different
S Pen–related app found in that same toolbar. Even though the toolbar disappeared after you selected the first app, you don't have to reinsert and remove S Pen to access it again. Simply touch the S Pen icon in the Quick Panel on the bottom right of the screen to display your Notifications. Touch S Pen has been removed, and the Contextual Shortcuts Toolbar will reappear for quick access.

*The Google Chrome browser also does not support Dual View or Cascade View or other S Pen functions.
