Connectivity
Wide Wi-Fi® Support: Galaxy Nexus by Samsung supports multiple Wi-Fi® standards, including 802.11 a/b/g/n, to make it easier to connect almost anywhere.
Sharing with Android Beam™: The built-in near-field communications (NFC) capability allows zero-click sharing between NFC-capable devices. You can share contacts, websites, YouTube™ videos, apps and more without having to launch an application or click through a menu – simply place the two devices next to each other to share content with Android Beam™. Cameras
Creating Movies: You can edit and make you own movies with the preloaded Movie Studio app. To get started, touch Applications > Movie Studio. Touch Create New Project and type a name for the file. Touch OK. From the editing screen, you can capture photos and videos or import previously captured photos and videos.
Camera Panorama Mode: Easily take panoramic photos with the Galaxy Nexus camera. Touch Applications > Camera. Touch the Panorama icon. Point the camera lens at the left side of the panoramic subject and touch Start. Slowly move the camera to the right, keeping the subject within the camera frame. Touch Stop when the right edge of the subject is reached. Watch the video to learn more.
Capturing a Photo During Video Filming: To take a photo while recording a video, just tap the screen. The photo is captured, and video continues to record at the same time.
Android™
Checking New Notifications: Android Ice Cream Sandwich updates the notification menu to a new all-black scheme. You can check for new notifications—incoming messages, missed calls, completed downloads, and more—by touching the top of the screen and sweeping down to open this menu.
Editing the Home Screen Dock: The home screen dock lets you quickly navigate to five of your top features or applications. The Applications menu icon is locked, but the other four spaces are editable. To remove one of the dock items, touch and hold it and then drag it to either the home screen or the trash can at the top of screen. To add a dock icon, touch and hold the desired icon (it can be on the home screen or in the Applications menu) and then drag it into the empty spot on the dock.
Adding Shortcuts to a Home Screen: Any application can be added as a shortcut to one of the five Home screens. To add a shortcut, open the Applications menu and then touch and hold the desired application icon to pick it up. Drop it on the current Home screen or drag it toward the edge of the screen to scroll to a different Home screen.
Unlocking Options: When unlocking the phone, you have two navigation choices – drag the lock icon to the right to open on the home screen, or drag the lock icon to the left to open immediately in the camera. You can also set the phone (in Applications > Settings > Security) to require a PIN, password, pattern, or Face Unlock for unlocking. Watch the video to learn more.
Adding Widgets to the Home Screen: Widgets are now added from the Applications menu. To add a widget, touch Applications and select the Widgets tab. Touch and hold a widget to pick it up and then drag it to the desired spot on the Home screen and release it.
Using Voice Actions: With Voice Actions, you can not only search by voice but also perform tasks like messaging, playing music, navigation, dialing, setting alarms, and more with minimal typing. To use Voice Actions, touch the microphone icon on the Home screen.
A Completely Keyless Face: Galaxy Nexus keyless face features virtual navigation keys for Back, Home, and Recent Apps built into the Android software. The virtual keys can be dimmed during full-screen display.
Adjustable Favorites Tray: Visible from every home screen is a Favorites tray into which you can drag their top apps, shortcuts, or folders for instant access. Watch the video to learn more.
Accessibility for the Visually Impaired: New features including explore-by-touch mode, which offers audible navigation feedback, and read-aloud capability make Galaxy Nexus more accessible for blind and visually impaired customers.
Voice-enabled Text Input: Touch the microphone from the keyboard to enter text by voice. The sophisticated voice engine lets you dictate for a prolonged period, enter punctuation by voice, and even pause, as needed.
Creating Application Folders: It’s simple to create folders by dragging one app on top of another.
Messaging
Accessing Corporate Email: In addition to personal email, you can check business email on the go from your Galaxy Nexus. To add a corporate email account, touch Applications > Settings > Accounts & Sync. Touch Add Account > Corporate and follow the onscreen prompts to enter the account info.
Respond to Calls by Text Message: If a call comes in at an inconvenient time, you can quickly send a pre-written text message to the caller. You can also add your own messages to the list of available responses and manage the list through the Call Settings menu.
