microSD™ Card

The Epic™ 4G Touch does not require a microSD card for any phone uses, but accepts microSD cards up to 32GB. A microSD card provides additional data storage for music, movies and more.

Kies

Kies Air lets you wirelessly manage phone content via any web browser—including photos, music, video and contacts. You can even send text messages from your PC.
Kies Syncing on Mac® Computers: Kies is now compatible with Macintosh® computers to sync multimedia and personal information. In the Mac version, contact information is synced with your Address Book and calendar events are synced with iCal®.

Task Manager

Recently Used Apps: Touch and hold the Home key to open the Recent Apps menu, a thumbnail display of previously used apps. Touch any app icon to navigate to the app, or touch Task Manager to open the app management tool.

Mobile Wallet

With Sprint Mobile Wallet, you can gather all your favorite payment methods into a virtual wallet to use when shopping on your phone. Unlike carrier billing, you use your own credit cards to pay for items online, but you don’t need the physical card since the information is stored in the application.

Battery Management

Better understand battery life and how to optimize it with tools found in the Settings menu. Touch Applications > Settings > Applications > Running Services to see what programs are currently using the battery and the estimated remaining charge. You can also go to Applications > Settings > Power Saving Mode to set preferences that reduce battery usage.

Music Player

While a song is playing on your phone, the music player can be controlled from the app, the notifications panel, and even from the lock screen. Simply touch the play/pause, skip forward or skip back icons to control the music. Within the app, you can search the web and YouTube™ to find more info on a song or band by touching the name of the currently playing song.

Apps

Sharing Apps: Have a favorite app? Recommend it to friends via Bluetooth®, email, messaging or Wi-Fi Direct™. Go to Applications and touch the Menu key > Share App. Select the app from the list and touch Done. Follow the prompts to send a link to download the app.

Voice Commands

Voice Talk allows you to give voice commands, including voice dial, text message, navigation, music, Web browsing and search. When docked into the car dock, the Galaxy S II automatically defaults into Voice Talk mode.
Voice Talk at the Ready: When a green light appears in the Voice Talk app, the program is ready to receive a command through either the Tap & Speak button or by saying “Hi, Galaxy.” Please note that leaving Voice Talk in this ready-to-listen state for an extended period can drain the phone’s battery.
Voice Talk Bluetooth Launching: Turn on the Launch on Bluetooth option in the Voice Talk settings menu to automatically launch the Voice Talk app when a Bluetooth headset is active.

Photo Editor

Photo Editor gives you the ability to apply fun effects to your photos such as motion blur, warp and composite images. With the editing tools, you can rotate, crop, flip, adjust contrast, sharpness and saturation.
Selecting Items in the Photo Editor: To apply effects to an area of a photo in the editor app, it must first be selected. To select an area of a photo, touch the selection tool and choose New Selection. The tool works best when you drag your finger across the middle of the desired area like a paintbrush, rather than trying to outline the area. Selections can be fine-tuned with the Add To and Remove From options in the Selection menu.

Shortcuts

Direct Dialing & Messaging: If there are certain contacts that you call or message frequently, you can add those contacts as a direct dial or direct message shortcut on a Home screen. Then, with one touch and without opening the dialer or composer, you can call or message your contact. To add a direct dial or message contact, from the Home screen, touch Menu > Add > Shortcuts.
Browser Bookmarks: Any website that’s been bookmarked in the browser can also be added to the Home screen as a one-touch shortcut. To add a shortcut to a favorite website, from the Home screen, touch Menu key > Add > Shortcuts > Bookmark. Touch the thumbnail of the website to select it.

Widgets

Resizing Widgets: Many of the Home screen widgets can be resized by long-pressing the widget and then releasing it. Yellow lines show the available sizes for the widget. Grab the lower right corner of the widget to resize it to fit one of the yellow outlines, or briefly touch the widget again to cancel the resize.

Notification Panel

The Notification Panel provides information about missed calls, new messages and voicemails, download progress and more. The panel also offers quick access to on/off switches for Wi-Fi® Bluetooth, GPS, Sound and 4G. To open the panel, touch the top of the screen and sweep down.

Super AMOLED™ Plus

The Super AMOLED Plus display technology uses up to 50 percent more subpixels than Super AMOLED, resulting in crisper text and smoother graphics. Power consumption, response time and screen thickness are reduced compared to competing displays. The Super AMOLED Plus display also boasts improved transparency and color gamut, better viewing angle and less reflection than conventional LCD screens.

Clipboard

When you copy text or an image from a message, the gallery or the browser, the item is stored on the Clipboard and can be pasted into any kind of composer, including email, memos and messaging. To open the clipboard while in a composer, double-tap the text box, touch the blue arrow and select Clipboard. Touch a Clipboard item to paste it into the composer.

Motion Interaction

Motion Settings: The Epic 4G Touch can use four user motions—turn over, tilt, panning and double tap—to control certain functions of the phone. To activate these features and learn more about them, touch Applications > Settings > Motion Settings.
Turning the phone over mutes incoming calls and sounds. Tilting, while holding two fingers on the screen, reduces or enlarges screen image in the Gallery or Browser. Panning, while pressing on the icon, moves widget and shortcut icons from page to page in the Home and Applications screens. Double tap prepares the phone for voice commands, if the Voice Talk application is open.

Cameras

Customizing Camera Shortcuts: The camera toolbar can be customized with shortcuts chosen by you. To add specific shortcuts, touch Camera > Settings > Edit Shortcuts. Drag the preferred shortcuts to the toolbar.
Switching Between the Two Cameras: During photo sessions or video recordings, you may want to switch between the rear-facing and front-facing cameras. While in the camera application, touch the Switch icon to toggle between the two cameras. In the Camcorder application, touch Recording Mode > Self-Recording.

Social Hub

Synced Social Networking: The Epic 4G Touch can be a powerful social networking tool when you add your preferred social networking accounts to the phone. Go to Applications > Social Hub, for full social networking integration and syncing, including feeds, messages and the ability to post status updates, comments, tweets and more.

Screen Capture

To capture a photo of the phone’s current screen, touch and hold the Home key and Power key at the same time.

HDMI Adapter

Setting Up HDMI Out: To share video content with an HDTV over an HDMI cable, the optional HDTV Smart Adapter is required. This adapter converts the Epic 4G Touch’s data port into an HDMI-out port. Please note that you must also connect the phone to a power source during sharing by connecting the phone’s own charging cable to the side-mounted power port on the adapter.
